Specificity
The principle of specificity states that sports training should be relevant and appropriate to the sport for which the individual is training in order to produce the desired effect.
Individual needs
A successful training programme will meet individual needs which are personal fitness needs based on age, gender, fitness level and the sport for which we are training.
Progressive overload
Progressive overload is the gradual increase of stress placed upon the body during exercise training.
Frequency
Frequency, as it applies to exercise, refers to how many times a week you do cardio and strength training workouts.
Intensity
Intensity is the amount of physical power (expressed as a percentage of the maximal oxygen consumption) that the body uses when performing an activity.
Time
Timing is the ability to coincide movements in relation to external factors. It is is a combination of decision-making, co-ordination and reaction time which gets the player in the right place at the right time.
Type
The type of sport or fitness that you do,and also one of the four elements you use to create workouts that fit your goals and fitness level.
