What is continuous training
Working the entire body for a long period of time
Cof- CVF
Advantages- improves CVF and inexpensive
Disadvantages-some people find it boring and does not improve anaerobic fitness
What is Fartlek training
A method of training for runners where the terrain and speed constantly changing
COF-CVF
Advantages- can be done on a variety of terrains and can include rest periods and can be continuous
What is circuit training
A series of exercises completed for a certain amount of time/reps,after one another
COF-all
Advantages-a good source of all round fitness and can combined many COF
Disadvantages- the circuits need to be set up and well planned out and it is important to work hard one each circuit but often enough people will pace themselves
What is interval training
Physical training involving alternating stages of high and low-intensity activity
COF-CVF
Advantages-includes rest periods and includes anaerobic repeated sprints
Disadvantages- can be intense so needs full commitment and some people find repeating boring
What is plyometric training
Exercises where muscles can use maximum force over a short period of time
COF-power
Advantages-improves explosive fitness and exercises can be designed for a specific performance
Disadvantage- need knowledge of your event or a coach and meed to progress gradually as rest and recovery are important
What is weight training
Involves shifting weight to increase the strength of the muscle using a programme of exercises
COF-strength, muscular endurance and power
Advantages-wide variety of exercises to chose from and easy to monitor progress and overload
Disadvantages-needs suitable facilities and equipment and need knowledge of safety and technique
