What is eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangitis?
A
= an extremely RARE auto-immune condition that causes inflammation of small & medium sized blood vessels (vasculitis) in persons with history of hypersensitivity allergic alveolitis

what does it classically present with in early adulthood?
A
- with allergic rhinitis
- & asthma that is difficult to control

what blood result would indicate eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangitis?
A
peripheral blood eosinophils > 10%

what symptoms would you have?
A
- tender nodules on skin
- peripheral nerve involvement
- heart tract
- kidney tract
- GI tract

what would the chest X- ray show?
A
- migratory patchy opacities that may be accompanied by nodules & pleural effusion

what 2 tests could be done?
A
1) bronchoalveolar lavage
2) biopsy

Q
how would you treat it?
A
corticosteroids & additional immunosuppressant for severe disease
