Why do you have to run a quantitative IgA test when testing for TTG for celiacs?
Rule out IgA deficiency (present in 2-3% of pts with celiacs - challenge)
- if pt is not IgA deficient, other test results should be valid
IgA against TTG or DGP
loss of haustral folds + lead pipe colon, shortened colon
Chronic UC (IBD)
Continuous ulceration of mucosal surface extending from distal ascending colon to rectum
- pseudopolyps may be present
Ulcerative colitis

Skip lesions deep involvement reactive changes - wall fibrosis - serositis - fat wrapping
Crohns
- granuloma formation in 35%
Continuous ulceration
colonic involvement beginning in rectum
UC
- L sided involvement
Crypt absesses are seen in?

Malignant potential is seen in crohns or UC?

tx for ischemic colitis
supportive care
- IV fluids
- bowel rest
- AB
surgical
