A skilled performer:
- Good decision making
- Wide skill set
- Fluent and economical movements
- Fast reaction speed
State the three different categories for skill classification
Open/Closed
Discrete/Serial/Continuous
Simple/Complex
Describe the difference between an open and a closed skill
Open - performed differently every time it is performed
Closed - performed the same every time, not affected by external factors
Give an example of an open skill
Spike(volleyball) Smash(badminton) Free kick(football)
Give an example of a closed skill in Badminton
High serve
What factors can affect the performance of a spike in volleyball?
Height of ball
Speed of ball
Position of opposite players
What is a simple skill? Give an example of a simple skill in Tennis
Skill will few parts, easy to perform
Example: Tennis Serve
What is a complex skill? Give an example of a complex skill in Volleyball
Skill with many subroutines and is difficult to co-ordinate
Example : Spike
Give the subroutines of a spike in volleyball
