Skid systems & Cockpit Instruments Flashcards
How many passenger exits does the 737 have?
Two (2). Both are on the left side.
What is the function of the Tail Skid?
Protects the tail section of the aircraft during takeoff and landing by safeguarding it from potential damage if the pilot over-rotates.
What is the function of the Anti Skid system?
Prevents or minimizes skidding during landing or braking by automatically adjusting brake pressure.
How many pitot-static systems are there on the 737?
Three.
What are the 3 pitot-static instruments on the 737?
- Airspeed Indicator
- Vertical Speed Indicator (VSI)
- Altimeter
What are the 2 gyroscopic instruments on the 737?
- Directional Gyro (DG)
- Attitude Indicator
What is a radar altimeter?
Provides the pilot with the altitude of the aircraft above the ground (AGL).
What is a CDI?
CDI – Course Deviation Indicator – tells the pilot if they are left or right of the desired course.
What is a DG?
DG – Directional Gyro – provides the pilot with heading information.
What is the HSI?
HSI – Horizontal Situation Indicator – provides VOR, ILS, DME, and Heading information.
What is the RMI?
RMI – Radio Magnetic Indicator – points towards 2 VORs and 2 NDBs.
What is the HDI?
HDI – Horizontal Deviation Indicator – provides VOR, ILS, DME, Heading, Pitch, and Roll information.
What is an EFIS?
EFIS – Electronic Flight Instrument System. Sometimes referred to as a Glass Cockpit.
What is the purpose of weather radar?
Uses radar to show areas of precipitation, clouds, storms, and other weather phenomena.
What is the FMS?
FMS – Flight Management System – computerized system providing navigation, weight and balance, and performance information.
