Skeletal Muscle Flashcards
How are myofibrils formed?
Myoblasts form –> Syncytium –> Sarcoemres end to end to MF
What is the process of Myofibril to Muscle?
Myofibril –> Muscle Fibre –> Fascicles –> Muscle
What are the 2 types of Muscle Fibres?
T1: Slow twitch with dark appearance and rich in ATPase
T2: Fast twitch with light appearance and less fibrillar ATPase
What is a muscle fibre?
Intrafusal muscle fibre wrapped around by gamma efferent nerve fibres
(Act to detect tension and stretch of muscle)
What are the 3 connective tissue layers and function?
Endomysium: Collagenous CT between the individual muscle fibres
Perimysium: Group of muscle fibre bound by CT –> Fascicles
Epimysium: Binds fascicles together (Found around the outside of muscle)
What is the role of Sharpey’s Fibre?
Connect Epimysium with collagen of bone (Over large surface area)
What are tendons histologically?
Parallel bundles of collagen with intervening fibroblasts (Muscle to bone over small area)
