Which parts of the oral cavity contains stratified squamous keratinising epithelium? (3)
Hard palate, dorsal surface of tongue and gums
What does a circular structure in connective tissue show?
Nerves (Group = Ganglion)
Which structure will always contain lots of lymphocytes (dark, circular)?
Lymph Node
What are the 2 specialised cells within the gastric body mucosa?
Parietal and Chief Cells
What do the parietal cells do and appearance? (What helps?)
Pink cells, that secrete HCl (Activated by Gastrin)
What do chief cells do and appearance?
1) Larger and darker
2) Produce enzymes to start digestion e.g. lipase and pepsinogen
What does stomach wall contain and role?
Elastic tissue, which helps it to stretch and recoil
What is the average pH of gastric juice?
2
What is the Small intestines mostly formed of?
Glandular epithelium with a few endocrine cells
What do Ganglion cells in intestines do?
Make the bowel move
What do the interstitial cells of Cajal do?
Act as pacemaker in cell
Where are crypts found and process?
1) Below the villi
2) Stem cells produced at bottom, and become specialised as reach top
How does the LI mucosa differ and why?
Flatter with no villi, as absorbing water
Where is lymph node normally found?
Submucosa
