State the rules for Significant Digits (6 Points)

A

-Non-zero digits (1-9) are significant
-Sandwiched zeros are significant
-Trailing zeros are NOT significant if there is NO DECIMAL
-Preceding zeros to non-zero digits are NOT significant – placeholders
-Trailing zeros after decimal and non-zero digit are significant. (reflect instrument’s precision)
-Counting numbers; known constants have infinite number of significant digits.
