Sign Test Flashcards
1
Q
what is the first step of the sign test?
A
write suitable alternative and null hypotheses of the investigation
2
Q
what is the second step of the sign test?
A
work out the sign
- + or -
3
Q
what is the third step of the sign test?
A
find the calculated value
- calculated value = S
- S is found by adding all the +s and -s and whichever there is fewer of this is the S value
4
Q
what is the fourth step of the sign test?
A
- find the critical value
- N = number of ppts(any difference of 0 should be removed)
- our hypothesis was directional/non-directional so we use a one-tailed test/ two-tailed test
5
Q
what is the end conclusion of the sign test?
A
- if the calculated value is less than or equal to the critical value then the results are significant
- accept / reject the null/alternative hypothesis
