what is abstract?

A
  • first section in a journal article is a short summary(150-200) that includes the major elements like the aims and hypotheses, method/procedure, results and conclusions

what is the introductions?

A

literature review of the general area of the research detailing relevant theories, concepts and studies that are related to the current study

what is the methods subsections?

A
  • design = e.g. independent groups, naturalistic observation and reasons given for the choice
  • sample = info related to the people involved in the study (how many, biological or demographic info)
  • apparatus/material = details of any assessment instruments used and other relevant materials
  • procedure = list of everything that happened in the investigation from beginning to end, includes verbatim record of everything said to participants
  • ethics = explanation of how these were addressed within the study

  • researcher summarises the results/findings in verbal form (discussed in the context of the evidence presented in the introduction and other research that may have been considered relevant
  • discuss limitations and how they can be addressed in future study
