(Sick or Injured Person) What are the (5) exceptions that patrol units will be dispatched to routine 421 calls?
- Are suspicious in nature
- Are related to unknown trouble calls
- Involve injuries as a result of criminal activity or traffic accident
- Are the result of a gun shot
- Other circumstances indicate a need for police involvement
(Sick or Injured Person) Under what (2) circumstances will an ICR and photographs be completed that are suspicious and don’t involve a crime?
If the injured person is suffering from a
- A potential life threatening injury
- Substantial head trauma
(Sick or Injured Person) Will a patrol officer complete an ICR on a suspicious death call?

LVMPD will assist the deputy coroner investigator as requested and maintains the scene until no longer needed by them
(Sick or Injured Person) What happens to the personal property (money, jewelry, identification, ext) at the scene or belonging to the decedent?
All personal property will be impounded by the deputy coroner investigator or public administrator
(Sick or Injured Person) Who will impound firearms that were used in an incident (suicide, accidental shooting, ext)?
LVMPD as evidence
If it is personal property of the decedent and NOT used to kill the decedent, the deputy coroner investigator or public administrator will impound the firearm
(Sick or Injured Person) If a decedent has a vehicle nearby the scene, who will remove and impound anything of value, make sure the vehicle is locked and advise the land owner, or person responsible for the property that the property owner can have the vehicle towed, if needed?

- Non Accidental
- An Intentional Act
- Injuries and/or deaths result from blunt force trauma, abusive head trauma or the child may have been ‘shaken’
- Medical Neglect
(Sick or Injured Person) In reference to a deceased child at a hospital where there are confirmed signs of abuse/neglect allegations, do you let the family hold the deceased child?
