Shoulder protocol Flashcards
when scanning the long heads biceps you want to visualize the
bicipital groove as it may be torn or out of place if not visualized
biceps tendon should be _______mm thick with what appearance
less than 5 mm thick
fibrillar
where will the subscapularis joint be seen inserting
medial to the bicipital groove
supraspinatus tendon emerges from beneath the ________ to insert on the ___________.
acromion
greater tuberosity of the humerus
supraspinatus appearance
It should be uniform, fibrillar & ‘beak shaped’ (convex superiorly).
infraspinatus has similar apperance to
subscapularis
dynamic assessment of biceps
assess it’s stability within the bicipital groove during external rotation.
dynamic assessment of subscapularis
assess for any overlying subdeltoid bursal bunching against coracoid during internal rotation
dynamic assessment os supraspinatus
assess for bunching of the tendon &/or overlying subacromial bursa against the acromion or coraco-acromial ligament during abduction.
Ensure the patient does NOT hunch their shoulder or lean towards the contralateral side during abduction.
posterior joint recess assessment
during internal/external rotation, assess for a gleno-humeral joint effusion. This will be most evident during external rotation
Acromio-clavicular joint assesment
during forward flexion with internal rotation look for boney contact or ganglia of the ACJ.
