SHORT & LONG TERM EFFECTS OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY (SOC 19) Flashcards
SHORT & LONG TERM EFFECTS OF EXERCISE?
When our muscles start to exercise , after a while they fatigue. They feel tired, this is when you cramp or feel a burn in your muscles. Lactic acid also builds up which effects your overall performance.
WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS ON THE HEART?
When we exercise, our heart rate increases. If your heart is bigger and stronger, the more blood it pumps out to the working organs in the body.
WHAT IS CARDIAC OUTPUT & WHAT IS THE EQUATION?
Cardiac Output is the amount of blood pumped by the heart in one minute. Cardiac Output = Stroke Volume x Heart Rate.
WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS ON YOUR BREATHING WHEN EXERCISING FOR EITHER SHORT OR LONG PERIODS OF TIME?
When we exercise, we start Breathing heavier and our heart rate goes up. This is when our body get’s rid of carbon dioxide, therefore leading for our system needing more oxygen than before. This shortfall creates oxygen dept which is a temporary oxygen shortage in the body tissues arising from exercise.
