Q

Advantages and disadvantages of asexual reproduction

A

advantages-lots of offspring produced very quickly
reproductive cycle so fast(bacteria E.coli)
allows organ.. colonise new area rapidly
1 parent needed (aphid) when conditions r favourable

disadvantages-no genetic variation if environment changes unfavourable conditions whole population affected

Q

Disadvantages and advantages of sexual reproduction

A

ad-genetic variation=different charact…
if envir.. conditions change more likely some individuals survive
lead to natural selection and evolution species better adapted to new envi..

dis-takes time and energy = fewer offspring produced
need mate problem if they are isolated
