Sequence Activities Flashcards
Mandatory Dependency
Relationship that is contractually required or inherent in the nature of the work.
Precedence Diagramming Method (PDM)
Technique in which activities are graphically linked by logical relationships to show the sequence in which the activities are to be performed.
Sequence Activities - Inputs
PM Plan (Schedule Management Plan, scope baseline);
Project Documents (activities attributes, activity list, assumption log, milestone list);
EFFs;
OPAs;
Sequence Activities - Outputs
Project schedule network diagrams;
Project documents updates (activities attributes, activity list, assumption log, milestone list);
Most common relationship in the precedence diagram method?
Start-to-Finish;
Project schedule network diagrams
Identify and document relationships among project activities and show you the logical sequence of project work.
Precedence Diagram Method (PDM) Logical Relationships
Finish to start - an activity cannot start until a predecessor has finished
Finish to finish - an activity cannot finish until a predecessor has finished
Start to start - an activity cannot start until a predecessor has started
Start to finish - an activity cannot start until a predecessor has finished.
Dependency determination and integration
allow you to sequence your activities according to how they are dependent on each other
4 types of dependencies
Mandatory;
Discretionary;
External;
Internal;
Consider when creating a network diagram
Leads (negative value)
Lags (positive value)
Schedule Baseline
Formal schedule developed from properly sequenced activities
