A
Infection within a joint, may be bacterial viral or fungal. Spread can be Direct inoculation or hematogenous.

IVDU, DM, Age, Joint injury or disease, Prosthetic joint, Immunosuppression, Gonorrhea, PVD, Alcoholism

Acute onset, Joint is hot, swollen and painful, Movement restricted, Systematic features, Aspiration of pus

A
joint aspiration, Blood cultures and Xray

management of septic arthritis
A
Flucloxacillin (gram +ve) or ceftriaxone (gram -ve), vancomycin (+ve + MRSA) , debridement, Replacement of prosthesis
