Transmitter operation
SEA
- Attach lanyard with snap hook to life vest/raft
- Erect antenna
- Put transmitter to water
- Check indications
LAND
- Place transmitter upright position on clear, open ground
- Erect antenna
- Pull and slide toggle to ON
Precaution oxygen bottle
- wipe off any oil from victim face before use
- move out of area when there is fire
- DO NOT administer oxygen during refuelling
- Ensure selected flow rate clearly displayed in flow indicator window
- Leave 300PSI for crew member to use after decompression
- DO NOT turn not over 4LPM, it may stop the oxygen flow causing injury/death to user
When P/B READY AVAILABLE what to do when cabin secure
- Press the # button located at the lower left corner on FAP
- CC shall be seated with seatbelt and harness fastened for landing/takeoff
CDSS inop
Inform flight crew via interphone stating NAME and CODE OF THE DAY and press # on keypad
Heaving line and ring
- Thrown to survivor in water and pulled to bring them to slide raft
- Approximately 100 feet long
- One end is welded to the slide raft
- Other end is wrapped around a small rubber ring
- The ring makes it easier to throw long distances
- Should be used to tie raft together (at least 20 feet apart)

Purpose of first aid
- First aid is the immediate and temporary care given to a casualty/passenger of an accident or sudden illness until the services of a doctor or paramedic can be obtained
- C (Confident and calm)
- A (Alert)
- R (Resourceful)
- E (Efficient and Empathy)
- Objective of First Aid (Preserve life, Prevent complications, Promote Recovery)

CPR should be discontinued if
- The casualty is revived
- You are relieved by Medical Professional
- You are too exhausted to continue
- Casualty is pronounced dead by qualified Medical Doctor
- The scene become unsafe (heavy turbulence, landing)
- Person is presumed dead if CPR is continued for 30 minutes and have no signs of life, no shocks advised by AED.
Chemical burn
- Flush skin with running water for 20-30 minutes to wash chemical
- Cover burn area with dry loose dressing and send to hospital ASAP
Angina Pectoris (Heart attack -> Angina Pectoris -> Cardiac Arrest)
SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
- Pain in chest
- Shortness of breath
- Feeling of anxiety
- Pain last for few minutes
- Pain will stop if casualty is resting
- Common in elderly
TREATMENT
- DRCABD
- Administered oxygen
- Rest and reassure casualty
- Sit back reclined
- Loosen tight clothing
- Check GTN (Glyceryl Trinitrate) carried, place under tongue
- Monitor vital sign e.g. breathing, pulse, skin colour and level of consciousness
Compression rate ADULT
- 100 - 120 per minute
Breathing rate adult
1 breath every 5 seconds, 12 breaths per minute
Child seizure treatment
- DRCABD
- Remove any clothing covering the child
- Move to cool environment
- Apply cool compress using normal tap water (no ice)
Fracture
- DO NOT move casualty unless necessary
- Reassure
- Immobilise the fracture with splint or arm/elevated sling
