pete would be given the label of a criminal at a very early age
expalin the role of individual differances in biological and social theories that explain criminal behaviour
social learning theory- different individuals will have different role models, for example one individual may have a criminal role modle and so exhibit criminal behaviour
one strength of this is research by farrington who found that 4% of 400 family members accounted for 50% of all convicts
t/f showing that family role models that are criminals influence other members to commit criminal acts
personality- mcdirk and mcdougl found 100 delinquients scored highly on PEN compared to 100 non deliquents
t/f suggesting that the individual differnaces of personality traits can attribute to criminal behaviour
self fullfilling prophecy- depending on how you internalise a label criminal labels will affect how you exhibit those criminal actions
one strength of this is supporting research by johda. johda studied the days of the week when they where born one having a different ‘soul’ to the others born on a different day. children born on a wednesday where more aggressive than those born on a monday
t/f suugesting that internalisng labels given by societ can lead to individual internalising those ideals and acting on them in a criminal way leading to criminal behaviour
