Coronavirus influencers glossy lifestyles lose their shine
Many influencers such as those that advertise travel visits, and clothing for different brands are forced to cancel trip visits and stop wearing the types of clothing that they are wearing. That’s because trip visits are constantly being cancelled, brands are no longer sponsering influencers due to lack of customer demand and traditional consumers are losing interest due to the current state of affairs prohibiting them to engage in such activities or purchase such products. Revenue from instagram and youtube are going down considerably and influencers are switching to other activities like rearranging ones wardrobe or homespace to continue to make money on the same channels.
Could the coronavirus kill the influencer culture?
Influencers are shifting from their traditional luxury environment photography, and filming to more traditional at home filming and photography. They are shifiting their theme to helping people deal with COVID , advice and tips on dealing with it and acknowleding the situation. Influencers are having difficulty diffrentiating themselves from one another, many followers are becoming influencers, and the concentration of interest is being narrowed. As a result many followers are unscribing from channels.
Brands turn to microinfluencers as they struggle with relatability:
Brands are dumping followers and focusing on microinfluencers regular people with 10,000 to 100,000 followers to advertise their products. The microinfluencers are gaining more attractiveness due to their ability to produce utility content use for the covid pandemic, such as learning, excercise, house cleaning and more. Microinfluencers are more relatable during this covid pandemic because they are not presenting a lifesytle that is unrealistic to obtain in during this period of time. Viewers are now focusing on content that can help them escape the current situation or self help videos geared toward the covid climate.
How are brands and retailers changing their approach to influence marketing?
Brands and retailers are focusing more on performance and shifting influencer content from skin care, beauty and entertainment to household products such as cleaners and air fresheners. Many brands and retailers are closing down their deals with influencers while many new brands focusing on new content like household products and even finance companies interested in building their brands are reaching out to influencers. The main return on investments of focus are engagement, and reaching out.

An italian university is opening up an influencer programs where students can take a variety of courses containing knowledge required to become successful influencers. Many people however are skeptical about the future of influencing and whether this degree would be of value in the coming years as the future climate for influencing is uncertain.

Pex the most advanced video and music analytics firm on the internet says that youtube should get rid of 99.3 percent of it’s content and focus on the content that makes money. The two major categories that make the most money are music and gaming because they attract the most viewers. Music is the largest and this needs to be licensed by youtube.
