Pathophysiology for the development of cyanotic mucous membranes
A
Oxygen bound to Hb is very low. It may be an indication of inadequate oxygen delivery to peripheral tissues, or could be related to increased oxygen extraction by peripheral tissues.
Cyanosis is difficult to determine in a patient that is severely anaemic.

Short-term managment of patients that cannot breathe properly?
A
- Oxygenate!
- Thorough clinical exam.
- Rest and sedation if required
- IV access
- Minimise stress
- IVFT may be required.
