dendritic cells interspersed with keratinocytes in the epidermis

antigen presenting cells characterised by the birbeck granule

what is a pruritoceptive itch?
something (usually inflammation/dryness) in/on the skin triggers itch
what is a neuropathic itch?
damage to central/peripheral nerve
what is a neurogenic itch?
no evident damage to CNS but itch characterised by damage eg opiates effect on CNS
what is a psychogenic itch?
psychological causes with no CNS involvement eg. itch in dillusion
what is a cream?
a semisolid emulsification of oil in water that contains preservatives
what is an ointment?
semisolid grease with high lipid content and no preservatives

liquid formation of medications suspended in alcohol/water

semisolid, thickened aqueous solutions
