Before taking your duty as a scene guard you must ask O/C Scene?
Who is authorised to enter the scene
What are the scene boundaries
Where is the point to entry
What route should authorised persons take through the scene
Where is the point of exit
What happened at the scene
Are there any suspects, if so obtain descriptions and photos
What are the duties of a Scene Guard?

P = PREVENT unauthorised people entering the scene R = RECORD in your notebook details of anyone entering the scene B = BRIEF authorised people before entry P = PROMPTLY report and record any suspicious activity A = AVOID contamination or interfering with the scene B = BE aware of any animals in the scene and remove them if possible
Scene Guards should refuse entry to?
Residents
Members of the public
The news media
Unauthorised Police personnel
What should you do en route (10/2) to an incident?
Obtain as much information as possible eg. Location, People involved
Discuss responsibilities with your partner
Plan vehicle approach
Plan Safe Forward Point
Obtain details of the offender and direction of travel, vehicles, time delay
Consider all options
What should you do upon arrival (10/7) at the scene?
Advise comms of arrival
Park in a safe location
Take time to assess the situation
Discuss options with your partner
Stop take note of what’s happening, where it’s happening and who is involved
Make sure you have a radio and torch with you
Ask anyone near what’s happening, where it is happening and who is involved
Locate the informant
