Scapulohumeral Muscles Flashcards
Name the rotator cuff muscles
Supraspinatus
Teres minor
Subscapularis
Infraspinatus
Name the scapulohumeral muscles
Deltoid Supraspinatus Infraspinatus Teres minor Teres major Subscapularis
Name the origin and insertion of the deltoid
O: lateral 3rd of clavicle and acromion and spine of scapula
I: deltoid tuberosity of humerus
Innervation of deltoid
Axillary nerve
Action of deltoid
Clavicular, acromial and spinal parts
Clavicular - flexes and medically rotates arm
Acromial - abducts arm
Spinal part - extends and laterally rotates arm
Origin and insertion of supraspinatus
O- supraspinatus fossa of scapula
I- superior facet of greater tubercle of humerus
Innervation of supraspinatus
Supra scapular nerve
Action of supraspinatus
Initiates and assists in abduction of arm and acts with rotator cuff muscles
Origin and insertion of Infraspinatus
O- Infraspinatus fossa of scapula
I- middle facet of greater tubercle of humerus
Innervation of Infraspinatus
Supra scapular nerve
Action of Infraspinatus
Laterally rotates arm; and acts with rotator cuff muscles
Origin and insertion of Teres minor
O- middle part of lateral border of scapula
I- inferior facet of greater tubercle of humerus
Innervation of Teres minor
Axillary nerve
Action of Teres minor
Laterally rotates and acts with rotator cuff muscles
Origin and insertion of Teres major
O- posterior surface of inferior angle of scapula
I- inter tubercular sulcus of humerus
