Extensors If The Knee Joint Flashcards
Origin if rectus femoris
O: AIIS and ilium superior to acetabulum
Name the muscles of the anterior thigh ( extensor so of knee)
Guard iceboats femoris = Rectus femoris Vastus lateralis Vastus medialis Vastus intermedialis
Origin of Vastus lateralis
Greater trochanter and lateral lip of linea appera of femur
Origin of Vastus medialis
Intertrochanteric line and medial lip of linea aspera of femur
Vastus intermedius
Anterior and lateral surfaces of shaft of femur
Common insertion of the quadriceps
Via common tendinous (quadriceps tendon) and independent attachment to base of patella, indirectly via patellar tuberosity; medial and lateral vasti also attach to tibia and patella via aponeurosis (medial and lateral patellar aponeurosis)
Innervation of quadriceps
Femoral nerve
Action of quads
Extend leg at knee joint; rectus femoris also steadies hip joint and helps iliopsoas flex the thigh
