Muscles Of Posterior Thigh(extensors Of Hip) Flashcards
Innervation of semi tendinous
Tibial division of sciatic nerve
O and I of semi tendinous
O: ischial tuberosity
I: medial surface of superior part of tibia
Action of semitendinosuss and semimembranosus
Extend the thigh, flex the knee and rotates it medially when the knee is in flexion
When the thigh and leg are flexed, these muscles can extend trunk
O and I for semimembranosus
O: ischial tuberosity
I: posterior part of medial condyle if tibia, reflected attachment firms oblique popliteal ligament (zoo lateral femoral condyle)
Innervation for semimembranosus
Tibial division of sciatic nerve
Biceps femoris o and I
Long head-
O: ischial tuberosity
Short head:
Linea aspera and lateral supra condylar line of femur
I: lateral side of head of fibula, tendon splits at this site by fibulae collateral ligament of knee
Innervation if biceps femoris
Short head : common fibula division of sciatic nerve
Long head: tibial division of sciatic nerve
Action of biceps femoris
Flexes the leg and rotates it laterally when knee is flexed Extends thigh (eg accelerating mass during first step of gait)
