13
Q

Describe a shoulder dislocation.

A

Inferior joint capsule is not reinforced by rotator cuff or ligaments so it is vulnerable, especially when arm is in abducted position. Head of humerus dislocates anterior to the glenohumeral space.

14
Q

Describe a shoulder separation.

A

Caused by a hard FOOSH or landing on shoulder. The acromioclavicular ligament tears or rips, with possible separation from distal end of clavicle. In severe cases both AC ligament and coracoclavicular lig are torn leaving the acromion free to move inferiority and damage GH joint.
