Identity
Involves the internal sense of individuality, wholeness and consistency of a person overtime and in different situations.
- how we think of our unique selves
Self-concept
How a person perceives and defines self.
Body image
Involves attitudes related to the body, including physical appearances, structure, and function.
- Mental images of what one sees do not always match up to the true physical appearance
- this can be very influential especially among adolescents
Role performance
Is the way in which an individual perceives their ability to carry out significant roles.
- self worth is the most functional self evaluation tool
Self-Esteem
Individuals overall feeling of self worth or the emotional appraisal of self concept

Any real or perceived change that threatens a persons identity

Change in appearance, structure or function of a body part that requires an adjustment to body image

Simultaneously assume 2 or more roles

Involves expectations of others and society regarding how an individual behaves when sick.
