Asymmetry
The lesion does not appear balanced on both sides
Irregular Border
Angular indentations or multiple notches appear in the border

Normal moles are usually a uniform light to medium brown

A diameter exceeding 6mm is considered more suspicious(size of a pencil eraser)

Changes that take place in primary lesions and possibly modify them.

Best time to assess skin?
During bathing
Newborn skin
Epidermis and dermis are loosely bound, bruise easily, and a break in skin can easily cause infection due to lack of immune system
Toddler skin changes
Epidermis and dermis become tightly bound
Adolescence skin changes
Increase in sebaceous glands, thickening of skin
Men increase testosterone
Women increase in estrogen causing smoother skin
Adult changes in skin
Skin is tight but the conditions externally can have big effect
Aging adult skin changes
Decrease I’m elasticity and epithelium
