RNA (Ribonucleic Acid) Flashcards
1
Q
Location of RNA
A
Ribosomal RNA (rRNA) Found in the ribosomes in the cytoplasm of the cell
Messenger RNA (mRNA) Which is found in the nucleus of the cell but later moves out of the nucleus and attaches to the ribosomes in the cytoplasm
Transfer RNA (tRNA) Found in the cytoplasm of the cell
2
Q
Functions of RNA
A
All three types play important roles in protein synthesis
3
Q
Structure of RNA
A
It is single stranded structure
It is not coiled
The sugar in it is ribose (not deoxyribose)
Thymine has been replaced by Uracil
The chains are shorter
