Unauthorised access to data
Data should only be viewed by individuals with the authorisation to do so to avoid espionage and poor information management
Accidental loss of data
Information being accidentally and irretrievably lost including the original version so it cant be accessed in any format. This could be due to equipment failure or technical error that leads to data corruption
Intentional destruction of data
This is the act or purposely damaging an organisation by deleting or denying access data. For example, viruses, DDOS attacks or ransomware. This could leas to wasted money, loss of reputation, customer loss and a decrease in profits
Intentional tampering with data
This is when data is changed and no longer accurate. This can occur though hacking. It could also lead to loss of reputation and legal action against the organisation.
Espionage
The act of collecting data so that it can be used against an organisation e.g. a competitor acquiring information about a rivals product before it is launched publicly
Poor information management
If data is stored insecurely or too many people have access to sensitive information, then it is more likely to b viewed by unauthorised people.
Ransomware
It encrypts files so that they can only be accessed again when certain criteria have been met, usually the affected group having to pay an extortion fee
