CRP/ESR (raised)
CK
Tx for polymyalgia rheumatica?
prednisolone 15g (reduce over 18 months)
Ca + Vit D + bisphosp for bones
MTX can be used
what is diagnostic for polymyalgia rheumatica?
good response to steroids
what is the risk with polymyalgia rheumatica?
GCA
what is polymyositis?
idiopathic inflammtory myopathy
features of polymyositis?
symmetrical proximal muscle weakness insidious onset dysphagia Raynaud's ILD
what can polymyositis be an indicator of?
malignancy
Ix for polymyositis? results?
anto Jo - 1 anti SRP ESR, CRP (raised) CK (raised) EMG muscle biopsy MRI
Tx for polymyositis?
prednisolone
how does dermatomyositis present?
V shaped rash on chest
heliotrope rash on eyes
gottron’s papules on fingers
risk factors for fibromyalgia?
young female trauma depression IBS migraine
features of fibromyalgia?
low pain threshold no inflam widespread pain fatigue numb/tingling cognitive problems
how does a diagnosis of fibromyalgia occur?
≥3 months of widespread pain
tenderness at 11/18 specified points
