Review From Winter 2018 Flashcards
Droplet Precautions
Need to apply droplet precautions when you are within 3 feet/ 1 meter of the patient
Need to wear a mask
Contact Precautions
Wear gown and glove when in contact with patient or their bedding
Artifact Error
The value is susceptible to variability due to non-physiologic reasons.
Something that is interfering with the measurement due to an outside force and not the physiological state of the patient
Routine Precautions
Gloves at a minimum
Airborne Precautions
Negative pressure room
Need to wear an N95 as soon as you enter the room
Zeroing Transducers and Chinooks
Because we are always under atmospheric pressure events such as a Chinook will influence machines and require recalibration
Low Flow vs High Flow
Low Flow Devices: Nasal cannula, O2 mask, Nonrebreath
High Flow: Maybe air entrainment depending on magic box
Is a pt has a RR >25 or inconsistent Vt use high flow
Bourbon Gauge Flow Meter
Uncompensated for back pressure so will read higher than what the pt is getting
Anemic Hypoxia
The pt will not look as hypoxic as they are which is why you always need to check Hb levels
Low Flow Devices
Will be dependant upon pt ventilation
Relative Humidity
Ration between the amount of water in a given volume and the maxium amount that volume is capable of holding
Relative Humidity= (Absolute Humidity/ Capacity) x 100
Body Humidity
Relative humidity at body temeprature
=(absolute humidity/44) x 100
Humidity Deficit
Humidity Deficit = 44 - Absolute Humidity
Pectus Carinatum
Forward Projection of Xiphoid
Tactile Fremitus
Decreased: Effusion, fluid, pneumothorax
Increased: Ateletasis, pneumonia, masses
