What is acute renal failure ?

A

When your kidneys stop working suddenly, over a very short period of time (usually two days or less), it is called acute kidney injury (AKI). AKI is sometimes called acute kidney failure or acute renal failure.

Additionally, chronic hyperglycaemia and dyslipidaemia induce mitochondrial superoxide overproduction, which leads to glomerular damage, histologically characterized by thickening of the glomerular and tubular basement membranes, mesangial expansion and podocytopathy.
