Respiratory Flashcards
Beta-2 adrenergic agonists examples?
LABA, SABA
Beta-2 adrenergic agonists MoA?
Smooth muscle relaxing in the lungs, dilation and opening of the airways, bronchodilation.
SABA, LABA CI?
Hyperthyroidism, DM ketoacidosis risk, glaucoma, CVS disease (HF, HTN, CAD, arrhythmia), hypokalemia
What are the side effects of SABA, LABA?
Anxiety and tremor
Ventricular arrhythmia
SABA, LABA examples?
Salbutamol, albuterol, levalbuterol, salmeterol
SABA and LABA I?
Bronchial asthma, hyperkalaemia, COPD
Inhaled corticosteroid MoA?
Suppress airways inflammation
Switch off inflammatory genes –> reverse histone acetylation –> HDAC2 decrease
Inhaled corticosteroid I?
Combination with B2AA (SABA/LABA) for asthma treatment
Reslizumab mechanism of action?
IL-5 binding so decrease survival and activation of eosinophils
Reslizumab I?
Treatment of severe asthma (>18YO)
Leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA) - PO MoA?
Bronchodilatory and anti-inflammatory effect.
LTRA indication?
Chronic asthma, allergic sinusitis
LTRA CI?
Hepatic impairment
