12
Q

what are the fallopian tubes?

A

these are narrow tubes that are attached to the upper part of the uterus and serve a pathway from your eggs to travel to the overaries.
fertillization of a egg by sperm occurs here then moves to the uterus.

16
Q

why is the cervix important during sexual intercourse?

17
Q

what hormone stimulates the mammary glands in the breast to produce milk?

A

prolactin.

18
Q

what do the male reproductive system do?

A

urinate, have sexual intercourse and make biological children.

they produce store and deliver sperm.

19
Q

what is semen?

A

is the protective fluid around the sperm

20
Q

what are the 3 main hormones produced by the male reproductive system?

A

follicle simulating hormone (FSH)
luteninizing hormone (LH)
testosterone.

21
Q

what does fsh do?

A

your pituitary gland makes FSH.
In men, FSH helps control the amount of sperm that the testicles (testes) make
.It triggers the growth of eggs in the ovaries and gets the eggs ready for ovulation.

22
Q

what does LH do?

A

pituitary gland makes LH. causes the testicles to make the hormone testosterone,
In women who menstruate (have periods), LH helps control the menstrual cycle. It also triggers the release of an egg from the ovary. This is called ovulation.

23
Q

what does testosterone do?

A

the main sex hormone. it helps you develop characteristics including muscle mass, fat distribution bone mass and sex drive

24
Q

what are the external parts of the male reproductive system?

A

root, body shaft, glands, scrotum, testicles and epididymis.

25
Q

what is the root in the penis?

A

the base it attaches to the wall of the abdomen.

26
Q

what is the body of the penis?

A

the body has a shape like tube or cylinder. it consists of 3 internal chambers. the 2 large chambers are the corpa cavernosa and the third is the corpus spongiosum. these fill with blood and allows a erection

27
Q

what is the glans in a penis?

A

con shaped tip of the penis. a layer of foreskin covers this.
the opening of the uretha is at the tip of the glans which transports wee and semen.

28
Q

how does wee not come out a penis on erect?

A

the corpa cavernosa press against the part of the urethra where pee flows which blocks it

29
Q

what is the scrotum in the penis??

A

loose pouch like sac of skin behind the penis. it holds the testicles aswell as nerves and blood vesseles

30
Q

what is the testicles in the penis?

A

oval shaped organs that lie in the scrotum. they make testosterone and produce sperm. within this are the coiled masses of tubes which produce sperm through spermatogenesis.

31
Q

what is the epididymis in the penis?

A

long coiled tube that rests at the back of each testicle. it carries and stores sperm cells that your testicles create. the epididymis also brings the sperm to maturity. the sperm from the testicles are incapable of fertilization

32
Q

what are the different internal parts of the male reproductive system?

A

vas deferens, ejaculatory ducts, uretha, seminal vesicles, prostate gland and bulbourethral glands.

33
Q

what is the vas deferens?

A

a long muscular tube that travels from the epididymis into the pelvic cavity.
it transports mature sperm to the urethra in preparation for ejaculation

34
Q

what is the ejaculatory ducts?

A

each testicle has a vas deferens that joins the seminal vesicle ducts to form ejaculatory ducts. these move through the prostrate, where they collect fluid to add semen. they empty into the urethra.

35
Q

what does the urethra do?

A

it carries pee from the bladder outside the body. it also ejaculates semen

36
Q

what does the seminal vesicles do?

A

sac like pouches that attach to the vas deferens near the base of the bladder. makes up 80% of your ejaculatory fluid including frutose. this is a energy source for sperm and hellps them move

37
Q

what does the uretha do in the male reproductive system?

A

carries pee from your bladder outside of the body and ejaculates semen

38
Q

what does the postate gland do in the male reproductive system?

A

it rests below the bladder infront of the rectrum. it adds additional fluid to ejaculate which helps nourish sperm. the urethra runs through the center of the postate gland

39
Q

what do the bulbourethral glands do in the male reproductive system?

A

pea like structure on the sides of the uretha, below the prostrate. they create a clear slippery fluid that empties directly into the urethra. this fluid lubricates the urrethra and neutralizes any acids that remain from the pee.

40
Q
A
40
Q

what are some conditions which may affect the male reproductive system?

A

erectile dysfunction,
benign prostatic hyperlasisa,
prostate cancer,
testicular conditions,
infertillity,
varicocele,
premature ejaculation.
