Renin All Flashcards
1
Q
What is the whole process
A
- Liver produces angiotensinogen
- Renin released from kidney acts on angiotensinogen to form angiotensin I
- ACE is released from lung and acts on angiotensin I to form angiotensin II
- angiotensin II acts on adrenal glands to stimulate release aldosterone which acts on the kidneys to stimulate reabsorption of salt and water
- angiotensin II also acts on blood easels stimulating vasoconstriction
2
Q
Where are AT1 receptors found
A
Smooth muscle cells
3
Q
More detail kidneys
A
In kidneys in walls of afferent arterioles there’re are specialised cells that produce prorenin (juxtaglomeruar) and upon activation by a drop in BP they cleave to make renin.
4
Q
More detail angiotensin 2
A
Promote sodium reabsorbtion in convoluted tubules and induce release of aldosterone from adrenal cortex
In CNS angiotensin 2 acts on hypothalamus to stimulate thirst and encourage water intake.it induces the posterior pituitary to release ADH which promotes water retention by kidneys
5
Q
Where are AT2 receptors found
A
On endothelial cells
