  1. The war must be fought for a just cause
  2. There must be control over violence
  3. A war can be fought if it is believed that greater evil would exist otherwise
  4. It must in control of government and politicians rather than military dominance
  5. Force used should be proportional and not excessive
  6. Only the military should be involved (not innocent civilians)
