Rejected Takeoff Flashcards
Who has sole responsibility for the decision to reject the takeoff?
Captain
If the FO is flying, when does he stop flying the plane following a CA’s takeover of the controls on an RTO?
Only after positive control inputs are felt from the CA
Is there a low speed and high-speed regime for an RTO?
Yes, prior to 80 knots after 80 knots
What should you reject for prior to 80 knots? After 80 knots?
Prior to 80 knots: Basically anything remotely weird
80 knots-V1: Engine fire, engine failure, fire warning, windshear warning, airplane unsafe or unable to fly
CA actions on RTO
-Say “REJECT”
-Close thrust levers and disconnect A/T
-Max manual or RTO braking
-Raise speedbrake
-Max reverse on SYMMETRICAL engines for the given conditions
-Stop on runway, don’t set the parking brake (unless evacuation needed)
FO actions during RTO
VERIFY:
-Autothrottle disconnected and thrust levers closed
-Max braking or RTO is being done
THEN MAKE NORMAL LANDING CALLOUTS:
-Speedbrakes up (or not up)
-Reversers normal (or no reverser engine number____)
