Rejected Landings/Balked, Bounces, Hard Landings Flashcards
What is a rejected landing?
A go around initiated below minimums
Is there any difference procedurally for a rejected landing compared to a go-around?
No, they are only different in name
What is a balked landing?
A go-around initiated after touchdown.
How do you perform a balked landing?
Disconnect autopilot, autothrottle, advance to go around thrust, verify speedbrakes are retracted. Maintain configuration UNTIL passing VREF, then call “go around flaps 20”. Everything from there is a normal go around. Re-engage automation at 250’ as needed. FLCH or VNAV will reactivate the AT
Is it normal to hear the takeoff warning configuration siren on a balked landing?
Yes, this is because flaps not in a takeoff position. Disregard
How do you handle a bounced landing?
Same as a balked landing procedure. They are identical.
Is a bounced landing considered a hard landing? Does a hard landing require a MX report?
Yes it is considered a hard landing, if both main gears contacted the ground. A hard landing requires a report.
