What makes up the pelvic girdle?
Sacrum and right and left hip bones that are joined anteriorly by pubic symphysis
What are the six regions of the lower limb?
Gluteal, femoral, knee, leg, ankle, and foot
What makes up the gluteal region?
Transitional zone between trunk and lower limbs, it includes the buttocks and hip region which overlies the hip joint and greater trochanter of femur
What makes up the femoral region?
Aka the thigh, includes most of femur which connects the hip and knee joints
What makes up the knee region?
Distal femur, proximal tibia and fibula, and the patella aka knee cap; as well as the joints between these structures and hollow portion posterior to knee is the popliteal fossa
What makes up the leg region?
It connects the knee and ankle joints and includes the tibia and fibula, the calf is the posterior prominence of the leg
What makes up the ankle region?
Aka talocrural region and includes the narrow distal leg and ankle joint
What makes up the foot region?
Contains the tarsus, metatarsus, and phalanges, superior surface of foot is dorsum, inferior part is sole or plantar
