What is the purpose of eye contact
Shows respect for signer
- Eye contact is similar to listening to somone speak
No eye contact = shows boredom or disinterest; communication stops

When finish a sentence you should add a closing signal at the end
***Without one = causes confusion (awkward without)

There are no one word replays - need complete sentences
Incomplete sentence = Just signing name
Complete sentence - Me - Name - FS - Me

Some deaf peple enjoy music
Deaf people have inetrests just like hearing people
There are differnce sbetween defa and hearing culture
- Example to get somoenes attention tap them on shoulder or wave hand in persons direction
Respsect deaf culture – treat culture as equal to own

How can you maintain eye contact in group
Person who wants to speak gets attention and says please look - not offensive in deaf culture
What to do if you need to break eye contact
Make hold on sign then reestablish eye contact THEN resume conversation
What to do if need to walk through group of deaf people signing
Walk through fast - Don’t worry about interrupting conversation (deaf people are good at maintaining eye contact despite interruptions)

Facial expressions help convey emotions
