Job analysis, job description, person specification, job advert, shortlisting , interview
What is job analysis
Identifies and decides the details of the duties and requirements of the job, the knowledge and skills needed
What does the job description do
Explains the tasks involved in the job , the job title, the responsibilities of the job, place of work, conditions (salary holidays)
What does the person specification do
Describes skills, knowledge and experience needed
What are internal methods of recruitment
When vacancy will be filled by someone already in the business. A notice may be placed on the notice board, email sent or a company magazine
What are the disadvantage of internal recruitment
1 limits the applicants reduces finding new talent
2 limits new ideas and working methods coming into business
3 you still have to recruit externally to backfill
What are the advantages of internal recruitment
1 Cheaper as no external advert costs
2 Applicant will already be known and they will know how business works so settle more quickly
3 Motivates a workforce
What is the purpose of an interview
For the candidate to explain their suitability for the job and for interviewer to gather as much info as possible
When are telephone interviews used
1 by big companies
2 after online application and tests
3 used to select candidates for face to face interviews
What are the advantage of telephone interview
1 time and cost effective
2 test candidates verbal communication skills
3 test a candidates commitment - checks if they have researched the empolyer
What is a work trial
A way to try out potential employee before offering th job - extended interview
Can last up to 30 days but usually 1 week
Employee introduced to core tasks to see can they complete effectively

To assess personality in a measured structured way so employer can assess candidates suitability for the job do they have the enthusiasm and motivation employer is looking for and will they fit in

Before they formally start work they are introduced to the work apace and become familiar with admin systems, introduced to colleagues - familiarize and feel comfortable
