Cask decontamination pit.
Fuel pool liner plate leak detector compartment.
Cask pit

23
Q

What is the purpose of the fuel building sump pumps?

A

Pump their sump contents to the Liquid Radwaste TDS Holdup Tanks. 100% cap, 100 gpm,

24

Q

How many penetrations does the Hold up tank area sump have?

A

2 Penetrations
* A 6-inch pipe from the:
o Reactor Makeup Water Tank
o CVCS Holdup Pump Room
o Refueling Water Tank overflows
* A 3-inch from the CVCS HUT overflow.

26
Q

What is the purpose of the Holdup Tank Sump Pumps?

A

Pump their sump contents to the Liquid Radwaste TDS Holdup Tanks. 100% cap, 150 gpm, lubricated by DW

27
Q

What is the purpose of the Decontamination and Laundry Facility Sump?

28
Q

What is the purpose of the Decontamination and Laundry Facility Sump Pumps?

A

Pump their sump contents to the Liquid Radwaste Chemical Drain Tanks. 100% cap, 50 gpm, lubricated by DW

29
Q

What are the controls for the Radioactive Drains system Sump Pumps?

A

(STOP/AUTO/START) handswitch
In Auto- alternator switches between pumps to equalize run times. Pump starts on Hi level, stops on a Lo level.
LSHH will start standby pump. Hi-Hi sumps will alarm B07 in CR. Lo-Lo level will trip pump.

30
Q

How will the loss of Radioactive Drain system impact the plant?

A

Would have a long term affect on the plant. If no pumps, the sumps would eventually overflow =radioactive spill. If the level got high enough it could cause a loss of safety equipment.

31
Q

What is the purpose of the Special Process Heat Tracing System (QM)?

A

Maintains given temps associated with special processes. (in pipes, tanks, and pumps)

32
Q

Which systems use Special Process Heat Tracing?

A
  • Boric Acid Batching Tank
  • Reactor Makeup Water Tank piping
  • Holdup Tank piping
  • Refueling Water Tank piping
  • RU-141(Condenser Vacuum/Gland seal Exhaust(/143(Plant Vent) piping
  • Hydrogen Analyzer System
  • Solid Radwaste System
  • Liquid Radwaste System Evaporator
  • Boric Acid Concentrator
33
Q

What is the purpose of the step down transformers?

A

Supplies power to a control panel by stepping down the voltage from a 480 VAC MCC power supply to 120 VAC

34
Q

What is the purpose of the control panels?

A
  • Cntrl& distrb heater element power
  • Monitor and display the temperature
  • Monitor continuity and power supply.
  • Annunciate and indicate alarms.
  • Integrate alarms for 1 CR alarm.
  • Wall mounted w/ doors. All line temps, alarm lights, and indications are visible from outside the panel. The panel& controllers are on the front.
35
Q

What is the purpose of the heater elements?

A

Heat the required physical subsystems, installed along pipes, under the insulation, etc. For use < 200°. For >200°F mineral insulationis useed

36
Q

What is the purpose of the heater elements?

A

Heat the required physical subsystems, installed along pipes, under the insulation, etc. For use < 200°. For >200°F mineral insulation is used

37
Q

What is the NORMAL operation of the Special Process Heat Tracing system?

A

RTD sends input signal to controller > line temp displayed> and compared to set temp > heater element turns on/off to regulate w/i +/-2.5°F

38
Q

What is the power source for Heaters for outdoor Q-class piping?

A

NH

39

40
Q

How does a loss of the Special Process Heat Tracing system impact the operation of the plant?

A

If the hydrogen monitor heat tracing becomes nonfunctional, entry into TRM 3.3.105 Condition A is required.
