RCS Heatup and Cooldown Flashcards
What is the most limiting component?
Outer reactor vessel wall
Per TS LCO 3.4.3, RCS Pressure and Temperature HU and CD rates shall be maintained within the limits of what? And what times?
The PTLR. At all times except when head is fully de-tensioned (can’t pressurize the RCS)
The PZR is limited to what MAX HU and CD rates?
200F/Hour HU and CD rates
What are the PTLR limitations?
80-92F = 75F HU / 30F CD 92-100F = 75F HU / 50F CD 100-221F = 75F HU / 100F CD >221F = 75F HU / 100F CD
NOTE: Acceptable operating space is to the RIGHT of the limit lines (PTLR TA2-1 or 2-2)
Why do we monitor PZR Spray Temp Differential during HU and CD per RC01?
To determine the cyclic limit of PZR Spray Nozzles
What temps are used for differential temps during RCP operation? SDC operation?
Lowest reading TCOLD on loop with operating RCP
On SDC, use SDCHX outlet on operating SDC train
What pressure instruments are used for RC01?
> 750# - Wide Range
<750# - Narrow Range
NOTE: Use steam tables if PZR temp instruments are not available (PZR T-sat)
When do we count valve cycles on main spray? Aux spray?
Main - <4 RCP’s
Aux - Anytime used
LCO Limitations on HU and CD rates apply to?
A “Rolling” Hourly average
When would the limits direct stabilization and hold at current temperatures?
If rate >50% of hourly rate in a 15 minute period (hold for remaining 15 minute periods in that rolling hour)
