Q

What can happen when gate from Fuel Canal to Spent Fuel Pool is removed?

A

Radiation levels may rise (FBEVAS possible)

Can manually initiate to avoid

Q

What is major concern during RCS Chemical Cleanup?

A

Radiation Level Rise (peak in first 2 hours expected)

Outage GOP requires posting areas

Q

What is a CORE ALTERATION?

A

Movement or manipulation of any fuel, source or reactivity control component (excluding CEA’s in UGS) in RX Vessel with head removed and fuel in pot

Q

Before opening a path from an RCS Cold Leg to CTMT what must be done?

A

A Hot Leg vent must be established

REASON: Vent must be above level of RCS so as to not drain when RCS is open

12
Q

Why don’t we depressurize the RCS with high gas concentrations?

A

Gasses come out of solution, inhibits natural circulation by gas binding the SG U-tubes

13
Q

Why is SDC flow reduced to 3780 GPM when in Modes 5 and 6?

A

To preclude Vortexing during mid-loop ops

If done, SP Temps vs Time post shutdown requirements must be met via the SAOD

Q

How do we COOL down the PZR?

A
  1. Maintain RCS and PZR CD rates
  2. Aux Spray may be continuous
  3. DT < 200F between RCS and PZR for 1 hour, raise PZR level to 95% by reducing Letdown
  4. Raise N2 pressure to 100 PSIA
  5. Vent PZR space to GR
  6. Repeat to SWEEP
  7. > 30 minutes and PZR Temp <150F, close Aux Spray
  8. Lower PZR level to 50% by raising Letdown
  9. PZR Manway preps
  10. Low PZR level to 15% and Pressure to 15 PSIA
  11. Remove PZR Manway

16
Q

When do we apply Seal Injection to the RCP’s (M5)?

A

> 195F or 215 PSIA in RCS for RCP start preps

17
Q

How long can an RCP be run without Seal Injection (after it had been previously established)?

A

Indefinitely providing it has NC

18
Q

How do we get a Steam Bubble in the PZR?

A
  1. Open Vents
  2. Raise Level 90-95%
  3. Start PZR Cooling fan
  4. Energize Heaters
  5. Adjust Letdown BP controller (Level 35-40%)
  6. Operate Heaters 100-190 PSIA and Vent
  7. PZR 35-40% level, start Normal and Standby Charging Pumps
  8. Balance Flow
  9. Maintain RCS Pressure 100-190 PSIA, 50-54% Level
19
Q

Is LIFTING and SETTING the RX Vessel Head considered a CORE ALTERATION?

A

NO
