Mode 3 to Mode 5 Flashcards
Which Pressurizer level channels are calibrated HOT, and which COLD?
HOT - RCA-LT-110X and RCB-LT-110Y
COLD - RCN-LT-103
NOTE: Correct actuals by using 9ZZ10 appendices
When must LTOP’s be Operable?
When ANY RCS Cold Leg temp is < 221 F. Or the RCS is depressurized with vent path >16 square inches is available (can remove PZR manway or all 4 safety valves)
What is the most limiting RCS Pressure Boundary?
Reactor Vessel (PT curves-brittle fracture
To minimize RCP bearing damage, what RCP combinations are avoided?
1A and 2B. Or 1B and 2A.
Preferred pumps are 1A and 1B due to PZR spray.
When can SDC be placed into service? When is it Procedurally recommended to be put in-service? And Why?
Can be put in at 350F (SM/CRS direction). Recommended at 300F to protect LPSI seals.
When would we NOT put SDC in-service when going down to Mode 4?
When we go to M4 but don’t intend on going to M5. RCS Heat Removal should be via SG’s.
Why are HPSI breakers disabled in M5?
Prevent possible Low Temp Overpressure (inadvertent start of a HPSI)
How long can the 525kV main generator breakers be opened and energized for?
Not to exceed 2 hours. If done, will reduce breaker life or cause premature break down of the surge capacitors.
“Re-Ring” bus < 2 hours post-trip (increases electrical switchyard reliability)
What is checked after SDC is initiated?
RCS Boron concentration, ensures adequate SDM at 210F.
When is BDAS and Start-Up channels required to be placed into service?
Within 1 hour of entering source range (2 x 10^-6% power)
If the “FLUX/SETPOINT” pushbutton is pressed more than 2 times in 3 seconds, what does this place the channel in?
TEST. Impacts channel operability until Test is complete.
