Radiology of small animal abdomen Flashcards
liver on x ray lateral
liver on x ray vd
spleen on lateral
head of spleen always right behind fundus of stomach (gastrosplenic lig)
tail of spleen has a variable location
spleen on vd
head of spleen always right behind fundus of stomach (gastrosplenic lig)
tail of spleen has a variable location
urinary tract vd
left kidney much easier to see
R kidney may contact liver making to harder to see
ureters too small to see without contrast
urinary tract lateral
ureters too small to see without contrast
L kidney is more caudal
urethra
from bladder through the pelvis
intrapelvic urethra is hard to see in, colon sits over it in vd
will see stones, not urethra itself
use contrast media to see
stomach vd/dv
gas rises in the stomach depending on position
vd- gas goes ventral- into body/antrum
dv- gas goes dorsal- into fundus
stomach left vs right lateral
fluid and gas moves based on side they are laying on
antrum= right side
fundus= left side
small intestine
duodenum
cat segmental contractions
“string of pearls”
colon
easiest to start at pelvic inlet where It is fixed
can be variable and hard to trace
can be followed easier with fecal material
cecum
