Radiography (Ultrasound Specifics) Flashcards
1
Q
Reverberation Artifact
A
- Curved white lines appear withing a black structure filled with fluid
- SW’s are going down so quick that they’re slowing down some of the RE heading back to probe
2
Q
White vs Black Image
A
White - Lots of RE
Black - No RE
Gray - In between
3
Q
Dirty Shadowing
A
- Caused by gas
- Scatters SW’s in random directions
4
Q
Longitudinal/Sagittal View
A
- Knob is vertical
- Indicating dot is pointing superiorly
5
Q
Transverse View
A
- Knob is horizontal
- Indicating dot is on the right of the patient
6
Q
Enhancment
A
- Sound waves travel through the fluid very easily
- Stuff behind are very echogenic (white) and is abundant information
- Bladder is an acoustic window that allows us to see uterus behind it better
7
Q
Sound Wave Traveling Speed
A
Fastest
Solid
Liquid
Gas
Slowest
8
Q
Top vs Bottom of Image
A
Top - closest to the probe (most superficial) and returning echo (RE) is fast
Bottom - Furthest away from probe (deepest) and RE is slow
9
Q
Spectral Color Doppler
A
- Shows same thing as color doppler
- Waveform graph tells if fluid is in an artery or vein depedning on velocity
10
Q
Acoustic Shadowing
A
- Total blockage of sound wave
- Totally attenuated by structure (bone or gallstone)
- Black behind structure is lack of knowledge
11
Q
Edge Artifact
A
- Black lines extend down an image even with margins of a structure
- Gallbladder
12
Q
Color Flow Doppler
A
- Color is assigned to flow direction
- Shows fluid moving towards and away from probe
