Permanent Side Effects - Radiation
Xerostomia, cervical caries, osteoradionecrosis, skin atrophy, alopecia at high doses
Pre-Treatment Advice
exam, debridement, restorations, extractions, teach OSC, NaF gel to prevent radiation caries
Post Treatment Advice
frequent recares, meticulous OSC, NaF gel!, avoid extraction/surgical procedures,
Patient Advice
soft tb, low sugar, soft foods, NaF gel, gently flossing, non-alcohol mouthwash, exercise jaw, no alcohol/tobacco
Trismus
“lock jaw”
instruct pt on jaw exercises
